Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and manipulating fine sterile needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes.
Therapeutic acupuncture has been around as a medical intervention for centuries and can be used for a wide range of conditions. The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (2004) states: “. . acupuncture has its greatest success and acceptance in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.” (1)
Here at Life Physio + Rehab, we use Therapeutic Acupuncture (a mix of Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Dry Needling techniques) to complement your physiotherapy, pilates or massage sessions to assist with:
- swelling
- muscle relaxation
- myofascial trigger point release
- direct pain control
